Prince George’s DSS and Washington Redskins provide Thanksgiving turkeys to needy

 Landover, MD (November 7, 2011) The Prince George’s County Department of Social Services is partnering with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation to provide the fixings for Thanksgiving  dinner to  local economically disadvantaged families during the ninth annual Redskins-Harris Teeter Harvest Feast.  

 Over 300 volunteers from FedEx, Harris Teeter, Junior League of Washington, Prince George’s County Department of Social Services, Redskins Women’s Club, Ryan Homes, and Wells Fargo will join the Redskins to distribute a whole turkey from Harris Teeter and packaged and fresh food from Operation Blessing  on November 22 at FedExField.  Santa will  also be there  to provide  gift bags, which includes a Redskins Read activity book, toys, and treats to the children.  

 Since 2003, the Redskins have donated over 803,600 pounds of packaged and fresh food and 282,000 pounds of turkey to needy prince George’s County  families.
