Baltimore County, Maryland — The Baltimore County Department of Social Service’s Child Advocacy Center has been re-accredited by National Children’s Alliance (NCA) following an extensive application and review.
The Baltimore County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) has been in operation since 1987. In 2014, it provided assistance to approximately 897 children. Its staff is comprised of both child protective services and law enforcement who help investigate allegations of child abuse in a way that places the needs of the child first. All investigators and victim advocates are masters’ level, licensed workers with extensive training.
Ten national standards were met as part of the reaccreditation process, which takes into account a center’s cultural competency and diversity, forensic interviews, victim support and advocacy, medical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and child focused setting.

National Children’s Alliance (NCA) is the national association and accrediting body for Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). Formed in 1988, NCA has been providing support, technical assistance, and quality assurance for CACs, while serving as a voice for abused children for more than 25 years.
The Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) promotes well-being among individuals and families by providing quality health, housing and social services.
