David A. Engle, Director of the Washington County Department of Social Services (WCDSS) is pleased to announce the promotion of D. Michael Piercy to the position of Assistant Director for Adult, Child and Family Services.
Mr. Piercy started state employment in Baltimore City as a Foster Care placement worker in 1994. In 2001 he transferred to Washington County Department of Social Services accepting a position as Child Protective Services Supervisor. Since January 2010, Mr. Piercy has served as Child Welfare Program Manager at WCDSS. Mr. Piercy holds a MSW degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and is a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C).
Mr. Piercy is a recognized leader not only within his local agency but also within the child welfare community in Washington County having served on several boards and committees.
Announcing his promotion, David Engle, WCDSS Director, said that Mike Piercy’s recognized leadership and twenty years of experience in social services will ensure his success as WCDSS’s Adult, Child and Family Services Assistant Director.
The Washington County Department of Social Services is a field office of the Department of Human Resources under the direction of Governor Martin O’Malley and Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown.
