Kent County Department of Social Services employees assisted the teachers and students of Garnett Elementary School prepare for the school year by donating boxes of school supplies and access to community services.
During the first week of school, the Department’s Outreach Team delivered four boxes of supplies that included markers, crayons, pencils, tissues, hand sanitizer, folders, notebooks and ear buds. The Department’s community partners, six local hair salons, provided gift certificates for back-to-school haircuts that were distributed to families with school-aged children. “We thank Emily’s, Big Mixx, Images, Classy Cuts, Hair Net, and Styles Unlimited for their very generous combined donation of 35 gift certificates”, said Linda Webb, Director of the Kent County Department of Social Services.
The Department partners with various local businesses, agencies and community organizations to provide resources to the community. “Supporting our community is an important part of our agency mission and community involvement is valued by our employees,” continued Webb.
