Call for Statewide Grant Applications to Support Hunger Relief

What: Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR)—the state’s human services agency—is calling for applications to a statewide grant program that supports soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, food banks, residential treatment programs, and after-school programs, among other nonprofit entities that serve free meals to hungry families and individuals. The grant, known as the Statewide Nutrition Assistance Equipment Program (SNAEP), supports these organizations in purchasing equipment and supplies such as refrigerators, cookware, and storage that are essential to providing meals for people in need.
Applications for participation in the fiscal year 2018 grant cycle are due on May 12, 2017. To apply, interested organizations should obtain an application by contacting Leslie Rice, Program Administrator, at leslie.rice@maryland.gov or (410) 767-7412.
When: Friday, May 12, 2017 at 4:00 pm EDT
How: DHR strongly recommends submitting applications electronically by email to bureauof.specialgrants@maryland.gov with the subject line “SNAEP Fiscal Year 2018 Application.”
Applications submitted by mail must be received by May 12. It is recommended that applications sent by mail are postmarked to the following address on or before May 3 in order to meet the deadline:
